Functional restoration and rehabilitation of the public library, located in Via Corsini
The rehabilitation of the public library in Via Corsini has been divided into three functional batches, the conclusion of which is foreseen for the first semester 2019.
The first intervention deals with the rebuilding of the roofing with lasting materials in order to prevent the infiltration of rainwater, as well as the recovery and the removal of wet parts of the roofing, which determined the closure of the building in July 2015. The second intervention involves the realization of a new air-conditioning system, suited for the peculiarities of the building. Finally, the third intervention consists in an extension of usable places. In the green space around the library a small amphitheater will be realized and in the entire area WI-FI connection will be provided. This new outdoor space is thought to provide chances to socialize and to function as trait d'union between the outside and the inside of the library, in which people will have access to a Literary Cafe. All interventions are planned to extend the social inclusion through the use of Barrier-free and Design for All.
